Suede is having a moment, but rarely in such a lush, relaxed form – it’s often stiff and structured, stretched over the flank of a bowling bag. Here, it’s fluid, effortless, and made to move. Davis has a knack for breathing new life into heritage designs, like his reinvention of the Venna motif last year, originally designed by Lucio Venna in the 1920s – Davis demonstrating the enduring legacy of the House of a pre-war Italy in which design was a tool of expression. Likewise, the Soft-Bag is reimagined for an adventurous generation marching to the sound of their own tune.
