Waddling Toward Winter

As October draws to a close, we’re as loathe as ever to think about the holiday season looming ahead. Gift giving, party hosting and familial bickering – can’t we at least get Halloween out of the way first? Luckily for us, Miu Miu’s holiday campaign takes the lead with adorable stuffed bunnies and waddling white ducks. 

In a series of tableaus shot by Tina Barney (the master of the form), a star-studded cast of Gigi Hadid, Xiao Wen Ju and Momo stand calmly amongst fragrant firs decorated with seasonal fare, in what could only be an immaculate uptown residence caught somewhere between Eyes Wide Shut and Home Alone. Styled by Lotta Volkova, the collection is a festive spin on what they do best: sporty fairisle fleeces and blousons, cardigans layered under boxy suits, and a very charming array of weather-appropriate scarves, hats and mittens.

But the stars of the campaign, it has to be said, are the stuffed animals. In each shot, miniature bears, rabbits and geese (and real ducks!) become the models’ companions as they lounge around the festive scenes. In the still lifes, they don the crocodile-embossed handbags, boat shoes and reading glasses with stylish elan. Maybe the ultimate accessory for the festive season is a furry friend. We’re sold!
