'Drop-down' mascara under eyes; dry and dehydrated skin; lip hues that need reapplying: these are just some of the pitfalls of non-waterproof makeup. Ask any beauty junkie in-the-know, waterproof makeup is the unsaid rule of thumb. And I’m going to let you in on a secret: once you go waterproof, there's no going back…

If you’re someone who wants to apply makeup when you're off to the beach, have onset menopausal sweats, or just generally have active sweat glands, then the only way you'll be able to battle the day-to-day crisis that is life is by investing in products that are designed to glide on and stay put.

Don't sweat, because I've got you covered throughout any hot flush, water-soaked fun or general British downpour!

YSL Vinyl Cream Lip Stain

Score... 4/5

Because... This product has been on the market for a while now, but for me, they've outlived anything new to arrive onto the lip scene. The genius part of YSL's handy black slick tubes is the enormous colour range – think neutrals and mauves, reds and corals, pinks and plums. They stain the lip to resist any wear, but not to worry, there's no compromise on the moisture front

Eyeko Yoga Waterproof Mascara

Score...
5/5

Because... Having tried and tested nearly every single mascara (and I mean this literally!), I can definitely say that Eyeko's Yoga Waterproof is the best one. It’s so brilliantly stubborn and tubes around the lashes, holding tight. Believe it or not, I’ve actually had angry clients calling me up asking how to remove it from their lashes – it stays put so well! The brush is great: it has a large fan, almost lotus-like, and thins out towards the end so that you can get right into the root of the lashes and towards the inner eye area. Just remember to always have Lancome Bi-Facil in your bathroom cabinet for easy removal. Soak it onto the eyes with a pad and wipe off gently.

Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon Pencils

Score... 5/5

Because...
Open up your eyes to these beauties that last up to ten hours and will give your lids a smooth bedazzled glow. Oh, and did I mention that they're waterproof! Who'd of thought it? An innovative eyeshadow pencil that withstands water and the test of time. Not to mention, the colours are fantastic and so easy in application thanks to their chunky pencil form. Apply straight onto the eyeliner area and blend off either with your finger or a brush to soften the edges – this will create an intense eye look that'll stay put and won’t cause any 'drop-down'.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer

Score... 3/5

Because... For concealer, I highly recommend this waterproof number by IT Cosmetics. The colour spectrum is brilliant and caters to all skin tones. The texture is slightly thick, so for the best finish I recommend dabbing a small amount onto the under-eye area and onto any blemishes, blending in with a small beauty blender. This product will withstand tears, tantrums and anything in between – any droplets will simply run straight over makeup and won’t disintegrate the concealer!
