‘Love does not consist of gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction.’ Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

In today’s social climate, it is rare to find female-written literature that analyses a women’s success in relation to the support of her male partner, but Angella M. Nazarian isn’t afraid to delve into this topic. Following the success of Visionary Women, Angella M. Nazarian is back with her new book, Creative Couples: The Collaborations That Changed History.

Whilst writing her previous book, Nazarian realised that many of the pioneering women that featured in her work had spouses, partners, or male allies that steadfastly supported their work, and that most significant innovations of the twentieth century came about through the joint effort of men and women working together synergistically.

Throughout the book, Nazarian explores a variety of partnerships, both professional and romantic. From Georgia O’Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz; to Simone de Bauvouir and Jean-Pual Sartre; to Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. Nazarian takes us on an inspirational journey through interesting and surprising relationships – revealing their positive impact on the success of the women.

But Nazarian’s work doesn’t stop here, she is also the co-founder and CFO of the LA-based, non-profit organisation, Visionary Women. The organisation focuses on harnessing the power of leadership and community to embolden women to achieve their full potential – to challenge convention and advance the status of women in all spheres of society. Nazarian is empowering women whilst crediting men where credit is due, and we are absolutely here for it.

Men aren’t all bad ladies! Especially when they’re actively supporting your success (big up Jean-Paul Sartre).
