Parisian ceramicist Laetitia Rouget has a recently opened shop, well... in another shop. Collaborating with Turkish-made shoe brand Sabah in Mayfair she has created an exhibition of her new work in their store, transforming it into a pastel hued dreamscape.

The partnership is part of a series coordinated by Sabah to showcase emerging talent in their studio space on popular Chiltern Street. Founded in 2013, Sabah is known for their beautifully crafted leather flats based on traditional shoemaking techniques in southeast Turkey. “I love the energy of the company, and the people involved" Rouget shared as she explained to us how they connected as brands, joining in their love of craftsmanship and unique products. "I always listen to my feelings, and this collaboration just felt right.”

After graduating from Central St Martins, Rouget began a career as a print designer for high street clients such as Sandro and Zara. However, Rouget decided to leave this more industrial side of fashion behind and focus on her own art practice, setting up the Shoopy Studio in her home in Hackney. From there, she began to experiment with different mediums in textile, paint and ceramics.

Rouget has since become known for her eclectic homewares (with almost 10,000 instagram followers on @shoopy.studio following her pastel palette), including upcycled chairs finished with west African wax printed cotton trims, painted stripes and tassels as well as playful ceramics. “Each artwork is unique and made with love in London,” she says of her pieces.

And when asked to describe her art in three words? “Colourful, unique and cheeky” - and given the array of peachy posteriors featured, we'd certainly testify to that!
