What’s that we hear? The chime of bells and the melody of carol singers? Yes, ‘tis the season again and we couldn’t be more in need of some Christmas cheer. And while festivities are set to commence a little differently this year, having the possibility of having a semi-normal celebration is enough to be thankful for.

And another thing to be grateful for? The nation coming out of lockdown! As well as shopping for presents, look to the cultural events below to keep you busy.

Accidentally Wes Anderson X The Old Bank Vault Immersive Pop-up
You may have come across the wonderful world that Wally Koval has curated on Instagram, Accidentally Wes Anderson, which highlights photography of real life places that could have easily been captured in one of the aforementioned director’s films. Having recently published a book of the settings, AWA has teamed up with the Old Bank Vault to showcase an immersive pop-up of the book’s contents. Running throughout December, you’ll be able to experience a dose of the Anderson aesthetic for yourself, in the easily accessible (when compared to one of his film sets) East London.

The Accidentally Wes Anderson X The Old Bank Vault Immersive Pop-up is running from December 4th to the 23rd at The Old Bank Vault, 283 Hackney Rd, London, E2 8NA and you can book an appointment to see it here.

Rites Designers Against Inequality Virtual Auction
At this time of year shopping is at the forefront of our minds, making it the perfect opportunity to do some of a philanthropic nature. And on December 12th, you can do exactly that, as the online platform Rites, is hosting a virtual action to raise money for the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust. The one-day auction gives you the opportunity to shop a curated selection of luxury fashion at even-better prices and 100 percent of the proceeds will go directly to the charity, which is helping young people from disadvantaged backgrounds receive the education, training and support they need to reach their potential. With brands like Simone Rocha, Molly Goddard and Cecilie Bahnsen being just a few of the 50 designers involved, this is an auction that shouldn’t be missed.

The Rites Designers Against Inequality Virtual Auction will take place at 10am GMT on Saturday 12th of December 2020, on www.rites.co.

Tate Britain Diwali Installation
You may have seen this popping up a few times on your Instagram over the last few weeks, but the latest installation outside the Tate Britain is worth seeing IRL. The winter commission by Kumari Burman is a kaleidoscope of neon symbols of mythology, pop culture, feminism and light, in celebration of Diwali. If visiting this artwork doesn’t bring a smile to your face, then you’re a true scrooge after all.

Visit the Tate Britain Winter Commission at Tate Britain, Millbank, London, SW1P 4RG and the installation will be up from November 14th until the end of January.
