It's not only the weather that's dampening our spirits, the thought of back-to-school September – aka. the end of summer – being just around the corner is enough to have us in a month long mardy. But, with there being an array of cultural events happening in our finally fully open capital, it's guaranteed that you'll find something to turn that frown upside down.

From light installations to car boots, here's how you should be spending the last month of summer.

Chila Burman in Covent Garden
You may have caught a glimpse of this British artist's work last year, when her neon lit messages covered the Tate Britain for their Winter Commission. Now, her work is to be showcased in an equally iconic location, the Market building in Covent Garden from the end of August. The South Hall will be covered in the Chila's uplifting messages, with "do you see words in rainbows" emblazoned in neon purple across the iconic entrance. Fans of Chila's work, or those in need of a positivity boost; this is one for you.

Visit Chila Burman's installation from August 26th in the Market Building on 14 James St, London, WC2E 8BU.

The Classic Car Boot Sale
There's no better place to find a unique trinket or vintage piece than a car boot, and one like no other is happening at the beginning of August. Taking over Granary Square, Lewis Cubitt Square and Coal Drops Yard in Kings Cross, this event has more of a resemblance to a festival than a traditional car boot sale. As well as the 100 fashion, homeware, art and accessories stalls, there will be a spectacular array of gleaming, vintage cars dotted throughout the market and a live DJ playing music throughout the day. The best bit? There's no need to get up horribly early, something notorious with your usual car boot sale. Start time is at 10am, and is taking place over Saturday and Sunday – there's no excuse to miss it!

Visit the Classic Car Boot Sale on August 7th and 8th at Kings Cross.

Northern Lights at The Greenwich + Docklands International Festival
Fancy experiencing a nighttime wonder of the world without having to leave London? Then watch Swiss artist Dan Acher’s recreation of the Northern Lights in Greenwich. While it won't it won't top the real deal, Borealis imitates the natural wonder in a way that's just as mesmerising.

Watch Borealis from August 27th till September 5th, 8:30pm till 10pm, at
Old Royal Naval College, King William Walk, London, SE10 9NN.
