In November 2022, Belgian designer Raf Simons took to Instagram to announce that he would be closing his eponymous label after 27 years, revealing that the brand’s spring/summer 2023 collection shown in October in London’s Printworks would be its last. The news came as a surprise to everyone, and fashion folk mourned the end of an era.

The brand was beloved by the youth and music community alike, with A$AP Rocky and Frank Ocean releasing songs dedicated to the designer, it is fair to say that Raf created shockwaves across industries, and his legacy of transporting streetwear in a high fashion context earned him endorsement from Mrs Prada in April 2020, when the pair joined forces.

Since closing his own brand, Raf’s undivided attention has done wonders for his creative output at Prada, the duo’s most recent collections were met with mass appraisal. And the Prada luxury group saw its sales skyrocket by 22% in the first quarter.

Raf’s attention to detail and appreciation of couture-level design was cultivated during his time at Dior. In 2012, the French megabrand turned to Raf to take the renowned couture house in a new direction. This transformative journey at the fashion powerhouse from 2012 to 2015 is captured in a new book, published by Assouline, which showcases the unique creative vision of the designer; and becomes the sixth book in a series dedicated to the legendary designers that have led Dior over the years.

Dior by Raf Simons showcases the contemporary edge, fusing music, performance, and art that the designer brought into his creative process; successfully marrying his signature streamlined aesthetic with Dior’s poetic femininity.

Authored by esteemed fashion journalist Tim Blanks, the volume offers perceptive and first-hand insights into Raf’s designs during his tenure. And the exquisite craftsmanship of his haute couture creations, meticulously preserved in some of the world's most prestigious museums, are captured through the lens of photographer Laziz Hamani – who also worked on a previous book dedicated to John Galliano’s subversive reign at Dior from 1997 - 2011.

The pages of Dior by Raf Simons are a celebration of craft, cut and silhouette, and the book has come at an exciting time considering the designer's enduring success. Delve into this extraordinary exploration of fashion and artistry.
