Tucked away just off Wigmore Street, Marylebone Lane is enjoying a series of glitzy and much-anticipated openings. The cobbled mews’ latest proposition is The BoTree hotel, which comes following a flurry of swanky new restaurants and shop openings.

With a promise of ‘conscious luxury’ in the heart of Central London, The BoTree also joins a focus on more eco-conscious luxury hotel offerings (see 1 Mayfair and Treehouse, both of which are both just a stone’s throw away.)

With a lobby designed by Dutch studio Concrete Amsterdam, upon entry, the hotel feels like a cosy home away from home, with artistic flourishes. The public spaces feature an abundance of foliage and flowers – including blooms provided by cult-followed florist Sage Flowers, who seem to crop up at every chic event across the city.

The hotel’s 199 rooms, including 30 suites, are fitted with marble and oak furnishings, highlighting graphic prints that add bold accents to the space. In its pledge to the planet, the hotel rooms feature vegan “leather” headboards, bamboo loo roll and eco-friendly bed sheets. In celebration of British business, the rooms include Jasper Conran Wedgwood crockery, Jo Loves toiletries and handy Dyson hairdryers.

Lavo, the on-site two-level restaurant and bar is a talking point of its own. With outposts in New York and Los Angeles, Lavo serves up hearty Italian fair – from Cacio e Pepe Pizza and Penne alla Vodka to 500g wagyu beef sausage with marinara sauce and fresh whipped ricotta – plus delicate seafood entrées. We feel a buzzy moment already, given both the British Fashion Council and P Diddy have already hosted events there!

The storied location was the former address of the Welbeck Street car park. A brutalist monument, acclaimed by architects and originally built in 1970, which was lobbied for years not to be torn down to make into a hotel. Luckily, the consideration of the scheme and its approach to nestling within the community has resulted in a space for the neighbourhood to commune and welcome visitors.
