As history will tell, magic happens when long-time friends join forces on creative endeavours; the one-off special meeting of sustainable luxury Scottish cashmere and ready-to-wear brand Brora by Victoria Stapleton, and that of Fashion Director and Stylist (and Brora aficionado from day dot) Jayne Pickering, drills home exactly why.

Collaborating to celebrate the brand’s quarter-century, the pair have fashioned a collection that draws on Brora’s rich library of cashmere colours, textures and exclusive prints and sees Jayne imbue classic pieces with a series of twists. “Jayne explored the extensive Brora archive, was inspired by pieces from many different seasons and used her keen eye for styling, colour combination and shape to put together a collection that we feel is a triumph,” explains Victoria.

Staying true to its illustrious history, a blended colour palette of camel, navy, bitter chocolate and sky blue is at the centre of the timeless offering, which, as is the case with every Brora collection, prides itself on its ethically sourced cashmere from the native goat of the Mongolian plateaux, and is knitted at Brora’s mill in the Scottish Borders.

“I wanted to produce something I could wear myself,” says Jayne. “I knew that camel was an important colour for me, and Victoria had just come back form Edinburgh where a client had visited her store wearing a camel sweater that she bought 20 years ago – so this rather perfectly turned out to be the base for the Collection. I love the timelessness of the collection – I always tend to stick to classics but with an added twist!”
