We could talk interiors inspiration until the cows come home – and, with the news that Acne Studios has entered the fray, seeing the brand join a growing roster of ready-to-wear designers who are translating their styles across homeware, we have all the more reason to wax lyrical once more.

It’s not just individual labels that are getting into the swing of things; earlier this year, both Matches Fashion and Moda Operandi expanded their buys to encompass delicious homeware, featuring a significant portion from runway regulars Calvin Klein 205W39NYC and Peter Pilotto.

But why is it that 2018 has seen this trend snowball? Houses from Gucci to Preen by Thornton Bregazzi and Richard Quinn are all trying their hand(s) at it.

“Ready to Wear designers are becoming more in-tune with their customers’ lifestyles,” explains Chelsea Power, Homeware Buyer at Matches Fashion. “These days, it’s less about just what women wear and it’s more about the 360° look, which means that the home has become a natural extension of personal style. Everything women are wearing – from day-to-day and special events to the beach – translates into their homes.”

“We developed an exclusive Preen by Thornton Bregazzi capsule from the ready-to-wear runway prints in snake, leopard and dark floral,” Chelsea continues. “Likewise, Richard Quinn’s eye-catching designs translate so nicely onto the cushions he has designed exclusively for us, while La Double J’s fun clashing prints on ready-to-wear work beautifully as table top furnishings.”

The moral of the story: Dress your house as you would dress yourself! The only question is... Where to start?
