It’s been a year since we last spoke to New Yorker Norma Kamali, when she shared with us her vision for the future of female empowerment – and we stay true to our words from back then: Norma is a woman on a mission.

An agenda-setting designer and entrepreneur, whose lived a life of innovation and creativity, Norma first set up shop in 1967, before launching her cult ‘sleeping bag’ coat in 1970, her skincare line in 1990, and the stopobjectification.com campaign in 2012 – to name but a few landmarks along the way – and she shows absolutely no sign of slowing down.

For 2019, she welcomes in her latest project, NORMAKAMALILIFE, which takes on a “democratic” approach to a modern healthy lifestyle, through its affordable and therefore inclusive plan, based on the three pillars of a healthy lifestyle: fitness, diet and sleep.

What's the mantra you tell yourself first thing in the morning?
I am a true morning person! I am always energised for another opportunity to be creative and I tend to be positive!

How do you take your coffee?
I’m more a hot lemon water or a green tea person!

If you weren't doing what you're doing now, what would you be doing instead?
Something around technology and invention: virtual reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence. I’m all about the future.

If you could only keep one outfit in your wardrobe, which would it be?
A jumpsuit with pockets!

Who's one person you'd love to have dinner with?
Michaelangelo.

What's the main thing you would like to achieve this year and why?
To bring NORMAKAMALILIFE to everyone. It’s a simple concept for a healthy lifestyle comprising of fitness, sleep and diet, which is launching later this year!

Who would you want to record your audio autobiography, voice-wise?
I’d like my voice on my audio autobiography, but I’d like my biography written by American entrepreneur, Ian Schrager.

NORMALIFE launches this summer exclusively with Selfridges in the UK.
