You could say that lockdown was the perfect time to dust off and binge on our favourite past-times; like baking (yes, lots of banana breads and colourful focaccia), and all our forgotten beloved TV shows. Yet, after months of cosy knits and elasticated waist bands, turning to ‘normal’ fitting clothing just didn’t feel quite the same. It wasn’t just us though, there appears to be an unanimous consensus that there will be no ‘back to normal’ when it comes to dressing in 2020.

Thanks to more than half a year of working from home, all of the time spent in the great indoors has confirmed that what we really want to wear is something cosy yet curated: aka. pj's that are socially acceptable to don outdoors. Thankfully, fashion brands have heard our cries, and we've seen an influx of the loungewear that exudes sartorial elegance, hit the stores. To be sure you're dressed in something that reads haute but homey instead of non-stylish slob, wear our picks below.

Similar to athleisure, except, without the tight fitting leggings and sports bras, elevated loungewear requires loose and cosy threads that will hug your body in the best possible way. The KITRI lemon dip dye hoodie and joggers are a scrumptious meringue inspired set that will instantly brighten up our winter wardrobe. While ideal for lounging at home, this playful combo is a cool and comfortable affair making the shift from sofa to street that much easier.

You may be envisioning loungewear to mean that we should stick solely to a hoodie and sweatpants, but you would be wrong. With one glance, Terry’s playful pink 70’s inspired poolside shirt and shorts will transport you to a summers day in Miami, and are designed to be ‘for everyone all year round, not just summer’. You’ll find us wearing these hand-dyed cotton towelled pieces from January all through to December – adding and subtracting  layers depending on the season.

Elevating your loungewear doesn’t have to mean you should stick to co-ords. This refined and luxurious stretch cashmere dress by Extreme Cashmere, won’t look out of place as you walk down Oxford Street. Unfussy and minimal, the indescribably soft texture and subtle beige will act as a walking blanket as you return to your usual errands. We suggest pairing the maxi dress with a trench coat and some chunky boats for the 'I just woke up like this' look.
