The fashion industry is stepping up to assist in the Coronavirus pandemic, but Havaianas are doing more than just putting their best flip-flopped foot forward, as they try to aid the most vulnerable within the brand's homeland of Brazil.

Alpargatas, the parent company of said shoe company, are using their resources to aid the Brazilian communities fight against the virus. Starting with healthcare, the Havaianas' factories will be temporarily repurposed to make 250 thousand N95 masks, and 18,000 pairs of medical shoes, all to be donated to the public health services in the Brazilian states of Paraiba, Pernambuco, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro. 

100,000 kits of essential products, including Havaianas, hygiene products and food, to vulnerable communities in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Salvador and Belo Horizonte. 

This is part of their 'Goodwill Partnership', which is an initiative started by the company to bring together other partners and volunteers who want to contribute in the fight against COVID-19. "Our aim is to unite our efforts, starting with actions by the Alpargatas Institute and Havaianas," shares the President of Alpargatas, Roberto Funari. "We are working on many different fronts and we would like to invite other companies to join us in this initiative."

With these efforts in mind, we know which pair of shoes we'll be reaching for when we can eventually enjoy some time out in the sun.
