Remember the innocence of a childhood holiday? There were no utterance of having a #bikinibod, no obligation to document your holiday via IG pics and acts of communication between friends and family would consist simply by a vacation postcard. With the world seeming oh so different now, we’re nearly long for those times as much as we long for a summer getaway.

With pandemic measures relaxing by the week, all's not lost in the hopes of a holibobs. But as with everything in this new normal, the act begs a few questions: is it safe to be travelling now? Will it be worth the two week quarantine after? Will I end up having to sunbathe with a mask on? Amidst these ponderings comes the realisation that we’ve been cooped in one location for too many months; our brains are in need of the stimulation that trying to understand a foreign street sign will give us and we’re craving the experience of cultural differences. So the question remains: to go abroad or not to go abroad?

If these decisions became a little overwhelming, then we’ve got the solution at hand. We’ve done what we do best, and looked into our wardrobes to transport us (in a Narnia-esque fashion) to the destinations we’d rather be, donned head to toe in brands from that country. This week, we’re hero-ing Spain, the home of Sangria and Flamenco fashion, as the first destination we’re wanderlusting/wardrobe-lusting over.

Starting from the bottom up, Hereu’s beautifully crafted collections of sandals had our hearts, and laces, in knots. Looking to high art, folk tradition and popular culture within the Mediterranean, the duo use local artisans to create crafted accessories that pay homage to the surrounding landscapes and their homeland techniques. This lace up number is perfectly apt for the streets of Valencia as well as the broken pavements of London.

How could we look to Spanish fashion without featuring casa Loewe? Brit abroad and Creative Director, Jonathan Anderson has been a purveyor for bringing a sartorial twist onto the leather good company, and we can’t help but pay kudos to these wool culottes for being a summer staple within any women’s wardrobe. Pair it with this crop top from Paloma Woolthe fashion designer-cum-artist – for a packed pop of cerulean that’s as colourful as the 70s aesthetic the Barcelona-based brand exudes.

As a handbag is often the seasoning an outfit needs to sauté the look together, this Heimat Atlantica style adds a peppery punch. Hand woven by artisans from Northern Spain and Portugal, designer Montserrat Alvarez also looks to those surrounding regions for her colour choices. This bucket bag is such a snack we can’t help but feast our eyes on it!
