The coronavirus outbreak has shown that the world can come together even when we are at our most distant. Over the last month, we’ve seen a real effort from major fashion houses and consumers alike in helping those most vulnerable – in particular, our caregivers on the frontline. Julie Brøgger of Brøgger has created patterns for PPE gowns; the parent company of Havaianas, Alpargatas, repurposed their factories to make N95 masks and medical shoes; and Connolly is donating the proceeds from their archive collection to Covid Smart.

Protège Ton Soignant” is the newest collaborative mission that seeks to further encourage fundraising efforts for those who need it most. Supported by the Haute Couture and Fashion Federation and the French Fashion Institute, the Protège Ton Soignant team is rounding up the fashion industry with an online vintage auction.  All of the proceeds will go towards the immediate needs of hospitals across France by buying and delivering medical equipment. The project is a great reminder that by protecting our caregivers, we are protecting everyone.

Designers were asked to choose one piece of clothing (or accessory) from their collections and reimagine it in electric blue – the #ProtegeTonSoignant colour. With over 50 designers participating including Chanel, Dior and Sacai, the auction will no doubt be a dream concoction of iconic pieces and there will be something for everyone to snap up and treasure - a beautiful momento of a time of solidarity.
