While the post-Christmas slump has effectively left the nation infected with the January blues, we can still be thankful to the annual beginning-of-year sales to help lift our spirits. With discounts of up to 70% being presented to us by our favourite retailers, it seems rude not to do a bit of shopping to help bring us out of the seasonal funk.

But with heaps of options to go through, finding diamonds in the saturated retail rough can be a painstaking task, and in this long and lengthy month, no-ones got the energy for. To help manage your time, so you're devoting it to completing new-year resolutions, the Because team have dived head-first into the mound to find the best sale picks of the season

Caroline Issa, Editor-In-Chief
Leopard is a classic, and I love what Julien Dossena is doing at Paco Rabanne - these wool blend pants are a great steal for a wardrobe life-timer. In the present, it's time for a homeware refresh. Recycle your old towels and invest in new, fresh ones from The Conran Shop that add some colour to your bathroom.

January is my month to get shit done, and I need shoes to run around town in - these Le Monde Beryl slippers are a great compromise on elegance but practical, so instead of schlumping around town, I'll be tapping around town! One of my resolutions is to get more manicures! There's no doubt I feel more put together when my nails are beautifully done, and this Christian Louboutin nail polish in Jazzy Doll is a great shade. But to finish, yes. More leopard. I can't help it, this Ganni midi is an easy dress shape in that WILD print.

This sale season, I'm Marie Kondo-ing it, and only buying things that give me joy. This Ganni jumper with mid-length sleeves, when worn may leave my fore-arms chilly but will increase the number of confident smiles on my face. Paired with Palmer//Harding's PVC midi skirt and Moy Atelier cat-eye sunglasses, my dress sense will be visualising a quick winter turn around, ready for spring. But the accessory that will be passing as bag/travel pillow for foreseeable travel plans, is this Dries Van Noten tote. It's padded nature successful updates the classic black bag into a statement piece.

To help save my skin from the debaucheries I've put it through the festive period (I'm hoping dry January will also be a saving grace) I've looked to Bonair's Blue Facial Oil to help plump some vitality back into my face. Bursting with antioxidant-rich Marula Oil and Moroccan Blue Tansy Oil, I can look to this to restore a healthy glow.

My 2020 New Year's resolutions are to exercise regularly, save money, shop sustainably and to practice more self-care. Wise shopping in the January sales could be a good start.
Nanushka's quilted vegan leather jacket and Stella McCartney's Eclypse trainers are must-buy items for people like me, who want to be fashionable and conscious at the same time. With this ideology in mind, I'll be looking at more sustainable denim options, as the making of it causes tremendous water pollution. My next pair of jeans will be from Re/Done, as they are crafted from upcycled Levi’s denim.

I can't go to the gym without a nice-looking outfit. Nagnata's technical jacquard top will be perfect attire to get physical in, as it uses a circular knitting technique to ensure zero offcut waste. Lastly, I will add an organic vegan eye cream from Antipodes to my daily self-care routine, to continue my journey to buy better.
