A new season means new clothes. However, like people, clothes do not exist in isolation. When investing it’s important to think about how a new piece will fit with what is already hanging in your wardrobe. For a sustainable approach to consuming fashion (and without having to Marie Kondo your wardrobe every couple of months) a central item with which to work around offers manifold styling potential: an opportunity to experiment with proportions, texture and colour.

With that in mind, we’re offering different ways to style some statement pieces - showing that you don’t just have to stick to neutrals when thinking long-term.

This week we're highlighting a Prada blouse that reinvents a classic stripe with geometric flowers and a smocked neckline.

Style One
The high smocked neck of the Prada blouse means that it is perfect for layering under a jumper to add a pop of colour. The luxurious wool and cashmere blend sweater from Helmut Lang and satin trousers from The Row add a softness that is gently undercut by the distressed detailing and leather sandals from Porte & Paire.

Style Two
By pairing the printed blouse with these white La Fetiche belted paper bag jeans it can shine in all its quirky glory. The casual neutral-toned Gaberdine high-top trainers from Prada are functional, but still considered.

Style Three
This oversized sleeveless woollen vest from Prada allows the gathered sleeves of the blouse to be seen (and admired!). The scalloped edge shorts from Zimmermann and chain-embellished leather ballet flats from Porte & Paire provide an interesting contrast to the oversized proportions of the blouse and vest combo.
