What... an orange mini fringe bag by Petit Kouraj

Why...
Because what's not to love about these fringed masterpieces?

We've always been fans of clothes-cum-moodboosters at Because, and Petit Kouraj's offering of bags that's just launched at Browns falls straight into that category.

Helmed by stylist Nasrin Jean-Baptiste, Petit Kouraj was born out of her desire to create something meaningful that was aesthetically lively and chic. This came to a head when Nasrin went on a trip to her native home of Haiti – et voila! Born was an accessory brand that celebrates a love of knitwear and also sustains a local craft.

Each bag is made in Haiti through a partnership with D.O.T Haiti, a women women lead organisation who work closely with their artisans to provide opportunities, education and vocation training. The bags are made with 100% organic cotton, leather handles and rayon fringe, taking between eight to twelve hours to complete. For the mini bags – this orange and pink style is our primary pick – each fringe strand is individually sewn 342 times, and 652 times for their larger styles. A labour of love that results in an a piece of wearable art – what is there not to like?
