Outerwear which proves to be fashionable, functional and statement-making is in high demand these days. Thankfully brands are delivering fun outdoor gear that is as likely to be seen on Old Bond Street as it is to be found working in some extreme outdoor sporting events!

Take the successful Gucci x The North Face collection. With its second collaboration out last month, everything from backpacks to snowsuits have already been snapped up in no time. Technical gear but make it Gucci - a recipe for hype success, and stylish performance. Here, Jane is in Regents Park doing some bird watching in her own Gucci x The North Face getup.

We're appreciating versatility built into our fashion wardrobe, clothing which are hard-wearing and allow us easy movement to explore the urban outdoors in style. Through the past 18 months we've yearned for this kind of freedom of the outdoors, and it's evident in the creative choices from designers this Spring 2022 they're feeling it too.

This Alexander McQueen denim and knit combo, fit to the waist and flared at the hem? Perfect in its couture silhouette but made of sturdy stuff. Even Jane has gone to Regents Park for a spot of Oyster (card) fishing in it.

Roksanda - known for her dramatic shapes and neon brights - has applied a touch of decadence to a highly functional rainproof cape. Perfect for London's every-season-in-a days.

Lacoste has taken a hiatus from the high-fashion catwalk shows it used to put on in Paris, yet Creative Director Louise Trotter has managed to infuse pret-a-porter detail into even the most technical of the brand’s pieces. Jane is wearing a light performance nylon in the most delicious shade of aqua green/blue with red piping and mixed textile cuts into its sides. She may be scaling the greenery of Regent Street, but at least she’s doing it in style!

Stella McCartney is known for her twist on British classics - the crombie, Savile Row style tailoring, etc. But this SS22 collection sees the sport aesthetic come to the forefront, perhaps a result of the enormous success of her Adidas sportswear range, alongside the same feeling we have of high performance glamour gear post Pandemic.  Whatever the reason, we love her light, long jackets - long K-Way versions that are perfect for picnics in the city park for your lunch break. Layered with it is a hoodie from the Fiorucci x Napapijri collaboration that sees the melding of Italian streetstyle with outdoor gear silhouettes.
