I don't know about you, but I spent this weekend in my front garden soaking up the evening sun and wandering in the nearby parks full of picnic-goers and (slightly premature) sunbathers. The city comes alive in the sunshine and the warm weather reminds me why I love living in it.

As murmurs of a ‘mini heatwave’ this week persist and sunny weather breaks through the clouds, at last, we bid goodbye to April showers (touch wood!), and head out and about to get a much-needed dose of vitamin D. So whether you’re on your commute or out for a daytime stroll, do so in style with our edit of the best looks for greeting the heat!

Comfy But Cool

Tie-dye makes a comeback every season and following Coachella this weekend, we are slowly shifting to a festival mindset and whipping out our vibrant wardrobes once more. This Zadig&Voltaire t-shirt, in pastel tie-dye, will ease you into the trend. Worn with baggy Raey jeans, metallic Birks, statement Bea Bongiasca flower power earrings and an oversized Acne tote (in picnic blanket gingham) you’ll keep this look on rotation all summer long!

The Summertime Suit

Nothing says chic like a tailored two-piece and this mango linen suit keeps you cool while looking cool – I suppose. The waistcoat can be layered over a tee or crispy white shirt or worn solo on those warmer days. Accessorise with statement gemstone earrings by Roxanne Assoulin, a raffia Jil Sander tote, strappy Cos heels and Jaquemus square shades – because what else would you want to wear in town in the heat?

The Sun Dress

This pastel yellow babydoll dress by Story mfg is made for days spent in the sunshine. Wear it into the evening with a cute crochet knitted Mango cardi (to keep the breeze off your shoulders), practical Le monde beryl flats, a beachy Arket shoulder bag and statement floral earrings also by Mango.

The Demin Two-Piece

A baby pink denim two-piece for all occasions. Dress this one up or down for in the park and in town. Sling the boxy jacket over your shoulders and layer it over a crisp white shirt – this one by Nili Lotan is perfectly oversized. Wear this outfit day to night with sculptural gilded earrings, chunky buckle slides and a raffia tote with leather straps all by Jigsaw.

Sporty-Chic

Centre your look around these beachy-ready & Other Stories X Sindiso Khumalo crochet shorts, part of a recent collaboration just in time for boosting our summer wardrobes, and accent the yellow with, well, more yellow via a pair of statement Loewe shades. But keep it sporty and street with knee-high socks, fresh New Balance trainers and an oversized JW Anderson Logo Tee.
