An immersive showcase, initiated by the BFC in 2018, the DiscoveryLAB gives fledgling fashion designers the platform to present their collections on schedule at London Fashion Week. With the aim to support emerging designers who do not yet meet the main schedule criteria, which requires over one year in business and evidence of substantial sales, The DiscoveryLAB provides the fashion pack with the opportunity to discover and connect with new brands sure to blow up.

The DiscoveryLAB will continue to be digital for another season, giving designers the platform to experiment at the intersections of fashion, film, music, and performance; reaching global audiences who aren’t able to be squeezed into ever-shrinking venues and seating allocations.

There are 12 designers presenting as part of the digital DiscoveryLAB this season. Because hand picks four names to look out for…

Luke Derrick

Luke Derrick is the modern man’s style saviour. With a subversive take on classic designs, the CSM menswear graduate leverages his expertise in men’s tailoring with sharp cuts, acquired at Saville Row and Alexander McQueen, and gives it a relaxed revamp. Quick to launch a collection just a year after graduating, Luke has already collaborated with accessories brands Oliver Sweeney and Tod’s and shows no sign of slowing down soon.

Laura Pitharas

LCF menswear graduate Laura Pitharas is reshaping womenswear with a masculine edge. Born in Yorkshire, all her wool fabrics are locally sourced from the Mills in Leeds, nearby her hometown. Laura is joining the crusade for a more sustainable production method while celebrating the beauty of women and the practice of making clothing that lasts a lifetime.

Johannes Warnke

Johannes Warnke used his childhood bedroom in Estenfield, a quaint German countryside village, as a studio for his collections. His whimsical explorations of exaggerated silhouettes and fabric manipulation bloom in technicolour. The CSM grad, who honed his craft interning at Viktor&Rolf, Balmain and Givenchy, has captured the imagination of Gaga, who he dressed for her dramatic music video for “911” and hooked us with his futuristic designs.
