As we start to settle into the new year with a few cold months still knocking at the door, Gucci Vault opens (literally) the year with their latest capsule drop, giving some major  ‘Vault Altitude’ (their title, not ours!)

When Gucci Vault first launched, we loved their approach to upcyling vintage Gucci bags they bought on Ebay, and the platform they gave to young designer brands like JordanLuca, Ahluwalia, Cormio and Rui.  It was a clever and exciting online-only retail platform, powered by one of the most mega of brands, and a welcome breath of fresh air of "thinking differently" in 2021. The kind of experiment we love.

Flirting with the romantic ambience of the alpine life, this season eight noteworthy brands have collaborated with the Italian fashion powerhouse, taking inspiration from vintage photographs of European ski towns such as Chamonix and Saint Foy.

The creative design duo behind Sea, Sean Monahan and Monica Paolini - famed for their womenswear collections that infuse contemporary silhouettes with a hand-crafted feel - have contributed to this series. Mixing cottage-core patchwork, embroidery and lace with technical fabrics for added snow-fairing appeal.

The duo bring playful motifs and refreshing bright hues to their winter wardrobe, incorporating embellishments such as heart-shaped eyelets and cherry embroideries. Practical fleece layers are elevated with hand-smocking, ruffles, lace appliqués and quilting. Sea’s “needlepoint’ dresses, pyjamas and coats, are a nod to the art of surrealism with their vintage tablecloth-inspired, digitally printed “stitches”.

Check out the collection now on Gucci Vault and get cottage-core ready.
