Let’s face it, lightweight knitwear is a British springtime essential. With April showers and inclement weather sure to catch us out, we need options when it comes to the right knits for the right occasions. From cardigans and pullovers for layering under rain macs and wearing over cutesy spring dresses (for when the sun eventually sets and evening chills creep in); to standalone knitted separates that guarantee breathability and comfort for those undecided brisker days, trusted knitwear is somewhat of a seasonal necessity.

The right lightweight knits can also be fertile ground for adding new dimensions, texture and colour to your outfit. And increasingly, knitwear designers in London (yes, we're talking about you Chet Lo, Feben and Matty Bovan) are proving why bold, technical, and sculptural knits are the transitional staple to invest in. After all, the humble knit is often something you keep for a lifetime so why not make it one that is special?

With exciting options, far removed from your old threadbare favourites, we’ve gathered some of the best knits for inspiration. So join us as we hop, skip and jump into the spring…

Like a sunflower blooming in a field, Georgia jumps rope in this yellow two-piece by REMAIN, made all the cuter with staple slip-ons by Vagabond.

Georgia keeps it cosy with a bright blue cable knit cardi by Molly Goddard, perfectly layered over sequin hot pants by Siedrés for an outfit to spring into the eve.

Georgia bounds into the air, her knits by Waste Yarn Project taking flight and she exercises her best chic. Her Toga sandals are best paired with comfy Flake socks.

Georgia’s ribbed knit Fendi dress is sporty and sexy, sure to make you stand out no matter the occasion. With a Last Frame knitted bag flung over her shoulder, she’s ready to skip into the season!

Emerging knitwear designer Scar Kennedy, sorts Georgia out with a sculptural jumper that bounces to the beat of her skips. This is the vibrant oversized layer you need this season.

Georgia wear Gigi Hadid’s very own Guest in Residence to lounge (post-workout). In blush pink and 100% cashmere, this set is as sweet as it is soft.
