What... Barely-there strappy slingbacks from newly-launched sandal brand, Studio Amelia.

Why... In fine construction, the brand’s debut style flatters the feet while making a definitive nod to the ‘90s à la Carrie Bradshaw.

For Creative Director Emily Amelia Inglis of new contemporary sandal brand, Studio Amelia, designing doesn’t follow the rule book…Or begin in the sketchbook!

Instead, it was taking to her feet with eyeliner and visualising the most flattering of shapes that spawned her dainty designs. Barely-there (they’ve been crafted mindfully in a bid to reduce waste) – with square footbeds, buttery leather loops around the big toe, and elasticated slingback straps – the styles are as elegant as they are sturdy.

Having relocated Down Under, it was while navigating dressing for Sydney's climate and staying true to her penchant for tailoring that Emily felt she was missing something. That something was a versatile sandal with a ‘sharp’ aesthetic that simultaneously didn’t break the bank (prices begin at £195) or forgo quality; one that would work just as hard on morning coffee runs as it would impromptu bar hoping. Finding it a tall order, she created it herself...

Working with nappa leather across a muted palette of black, white and nude with a red croc-effect leather style thrown in for good measure (because, why not?), the brand’s debut offering Collection 1.0’ steps forward as sleek summer staples – whether city or beach-bound.

Keeping it classic, we’re beginning our collection with the go-with-anything ‘1.2’ black style, that lends us a slight heel. As city-dwellers for the most part of the summer, we’ll be looking to the minimal pair to see us from meeting-to-meeting in style, while keeping us in the spirit of the season. Come weekends, you’ll find us continuing the dainty detail theme in a spaghetti strap slip while brunching in the sun.

Thank you, Studio Amelia.
